Shutter/Aperture Assignment

In this assignment, we were asked to take 4 of the same pictures with different shutter speeds and 4 of the same pictures with different apertures. We changed the apertures and shutter speeds through the AV and TV mode settings on the camera.

Shutter Speed-

Shutter speed #1- 1/60 Shutter speed #2- 1/160 Shutter speed #3- 1/500 Shutter speed #4- 1/800

This portion of the assignment we were asked to take four of the same picture with different shutter speeds. In the first photo, the shutter speed of the dice was 1/60 and the 4th photo had a shutter speed of 1/800. The lower the shutter speed number, the more motion blur in an image, and the lower the shutter speed number, the less blur there is. The lower shutter speed number causes the dice to seem like they are flying in the air.

Aperture-

Aperture #1 - F3.5 Aperture #2 - F5.6 Aperture #3 - F9 Aperture #4 - F14

For this part of the assignment, we had to show the difference in depth of field by changing the aperture. In the first photo the aperture number was F3.5 and in the fourth photo, the aperture number was F14. In the first photo, the goal and the numbered flag were blurry and in the fourth picture the flag and goal are in focus.

1.) A fast shutter speed does what to an image?

The motion is froze and there is less exposure.

2.) A slow shutter speed causes what effect on an image?

There is a motion blur and there will be a lot of exposure.

3.) A large aperture causes what effect on an image?

There is a larger depth of field and there will be a lot of exposure.

4.) A small aperture causes what effect on an image?

There is a smaller depth of field and there will be little exposure.
